Raleigh’s 31st Police Chief Greets SER Promise Legacy Resident Ambassadors

Raleigh City Police Chief Rico Boyce joined the Southeast Raleigh Promise Legacy Resident Ambassadors (LRAs) at the group’s April monthly meeting at the Ralph Campbell Community Center in Apollo Heights.
Boyce was joined by the Southeast District’s Capt. Daniel Nieters, Deputy Chief D. Ford, Sgt. M.T. Lambe, and district community officers R.A. Lee, B.G. Powell, and J.A. Diaz.
The 20 SER Promise LRAs help guide our outreach and engagement strategies in Apollo Heights, Stratford Park, Battery Heights, and Long Acres, four historically Black Southeast Raleigh neighborhoods, in our area of impact nearby Rock Quarry Road. As we prioritize strengthening community connections, building relationships, and preserving the rich culture and history of the community, we meet monthly to address issues, organize events, and advance resident-led solutions that create opportunities for residents to grow, thrive, and prosper.
Chief Boyce, who was sworn in April 2 as the city’s 31st Chief of Police, told the group “Southeast Raleigh raised me,” through the ranks. Saying he is “extremely honored to be your police chief,” Boyce added his philosophy of policing requires “consistency and continuity in the district.” “We’re going to have fair and equitable policing across this great city,” he assured the group.
At Southeast Raleigh Promise, we are committed to working alongside our neighbors, partners, and funders to ensure that Southeast Raleigh residents have access to opportunities to grow, thrive, and prosper.
