Health & Community Well-Being

Supporting whole-person health through food access, wellness partnerships, and the community spaces where people belong.

How We Advance
Health and Well-Being

Health and well-being do not come from any single program. They grow from everyday access to good food and safe spaces, and from the partners who make those things real.

WE CONNECT

From the Beacon Campus Community Garden to the food pantry at Beacon Ridge Apartments, we help ensure essential resources are close to home.

WE CONVENE

We bring partners together around the health priorities residents tell us matter most, including the annual Youth Mental Health Summit.

WE CATALYZE

We work alongside anchor partners, such as the Southeast Raleigh YMCA, to ensure that wellness resources reach residents along the Rock Quarry Road Corridor.

The Beacon
Site Community Garden

In partnership with a dedicated community gardener, the Beacon Campus Community Garden produces more than 1,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables each year. The garden is both a source of nutritious food and a gathering space where neighbors connect with the land and with one another.

Food Security at Beacon Ridge

In partnership with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, we are opening a food pantry at Beacon Ridge Apartments to serve residents where they live. The pantry is one part of a broader effort to build food security along the Rock Quarry Road Corridor.

Youth Mental Health Summit

The annual Youth Mental Health Summit brings young people and mental health professionals together to address the challenges facing Southeast Raleigh's youth. The summit reflects our commitment to whole-person health and the partnerships that make it possible.

A Campus Built for Healthy Living

The Beacon Site is smoke-free and connected to the city's greenway system. It was built with environmental sustainability in mind and designed to be a place where wellness is woven into everyday life. As the greenway expands to link the Beacon Campus with Downtown South, the corridor will become an even stronger asset for active, connected living.

Our Partnership with the Southeast Raleigh YMCA

Residents within the YMCA's
designated zone qualify for discounted memberships, giving families along the corridor access to the facilities, summer camps, and on-site before- and after-school programs. The outdoor track, pool, and gathering spaces make the Y a daily hub of healthy, active community life.

Transportation and Mobility

Through a transportation grant, we distributed 21 bicycles to adult residents at Beacon Ridge Apartments, expanding access to the greenway and nearby services while supporting active mobility that benefits both body and mind.
