Paving Pathways to Prosperity with Preparation and Access to Opportunities

Youth Ambassadors

At Southeast Raleigh Promise, we believe pathways to prosperity are built through preparation and opportunity. To move forward, we must first understand where we’ve been and where we are today.

This summer, we focused on gathering data and strengthening partnerships to support students, families, and educators at Southeast Raleigh Elementary, located on our Beacon Site Campus. We resumed the monthly Southeast Raleigh Elementary Steering Committee meetings, bringing together representatives from the school, SE Raleigh YMCA, WCPSS District, Telamon (Pre-K providers), and Southeast Raleigh Promise. We also worked to strengthen relationships with parents and residents, amplifying their voices to identify gaps in opportunities and determine what’s needed to ensure student achievement and success.

Guided by data, parent input, and the school improvement plan, the committee will focus on key priorities: reading proficiency, parent and family engagement, student attendance, and school climate and culture. Together with the school leadership, PTA, and community partners, we will co-design strategies to improve outcomes and leverage resources to provide relevant programs and supportive services.

SERP also helped bring together leaders from Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School and Wake Tech Community College to explore a partnership that would increase student participation in the Career and College Promise (CCP) program. This exciting opportunity enables students to graduate with college credits or trade certifications, helping them to take confident steps toward future success.

Together, we are building a stronger school community where every student has the support, opportunities, and preparation they need to succeed. We invite parents, families, and community members to join us in shaping these pathways to prosperity—because when our children thrive, our whole community thrives.
