CEO Yvette Holmes Recognized as a Community Hero by NC Courage

Thank you to the NC Courage for recognizing our Southeast Raleigh Promise CEO Yvette Holmes with the Lenovo Community Hero Award during the August 16 match against the Houston Dash at WakeMed Soccer Park.

The Lenovo Community Hero Award honors Triangle-area community leaders who go above and beyond through service, acts of kindness, and education. Presented at six NC Courage(opens in new tab) home games each season through their partnership with Lenovo, the award recognizes individuals who make a meaningful difference in our community.

The recognition was especially fitting during the Courage’s Celebrate Black Excellence match, honoring the achievements and impact of Black leaders, changemakers, and community champions. For the past two years, Southeast Raleigh Promise and NC Courage have worked in partnership to address education issues and build meaningful relationships with schools in our immediate area.

As shared during the celebration among a crowd of more than 7,000, Yvette leads Southeast Raleigh Promise, using a place-based partnership model to convene, connect, and catalyze residents, community partners, and small businesses to create opportunities and improve quality of life in mixed-income housing, economic mobility, cradle-to-career education, and health and community wellness.

Her leadership reflects a deep belief in the hopeful possibilities and undeniable promise we hold individually and as a community. It’s a belief that continues to inspire meaningful progress and change across our community.

Yvette was joined by family, friends, and members of her Southeast Raleigh Promise team to celebrate this well-deserved recognition. Her three granddaughters joined her for this special moment at midfield.

“As a grandmother of three intelligent young girls, it is important for me that they see themselves in all spaces, capable of doing anything they set their minds to and ready to use their gifts to be of service to others,” said Yvette.
