Biking to Build and Connect Residents to Community and Health

SERP - BGDB BIKE RIDING LESSONS - PHOTO 10

This month, our Transportation Demand Management (TDM) team partnered with Oaks & Spokes for our second bike giveaway, providing 21 Beacon Ridge youth ages 5-18 on our Beacon Campus with bicycles, riding equipment, and safety instruction. As many new riders joined the first bike giveaway last year, bringing the total to 42. Next, in partnership with Black Girls Do Bike, all interested residents participated in two riding lessons and a community bike ride. Each time, at least 12 residents were ready to ride!

The TDM grant supports efforts to expand transportation options, improve mobility, and to promote active, healthy lifestyles for our community, which aligns with our Southeast Raleigh Promise focus on Health & Community Wellness as an area of impact.

This photo slideshow captures highlights from the initiative and the results of these community partnerships. Please enjoy!
