Making a Difference: Property Tax Relief

We’re joining with others to make an impact! In partnership with the Wake County Property Tax Working Group, we co-hosted property tax relief workshops and one-on-one sessions at Martin Street Baptist Church and Southeast Raleigh Table.

It’s part of our continuing efforts to help preserve generational wealth and ensure that legacy residents in Southeast Raleigh are connected to the resources that allow them to remain rooted in their neighborhoods of choice.

The Wake County Property Tax Justice Working Group is a collection of community members and organizations working to address the disproportionate increase in property tax values in neighborhoods where growth creates pressures of displacement for legacy residents. In addition to advocacy at the state and local levels, the aim is to educate and connect residents to property tax relief resources, and to provide support to residents throughout the appeals process.

In 2024, the Working Group helped over 50 residents appeal their property taxes and/or apply for property tax relief, resulting in a savings of over $200,000.
