On Wednesday, September 24, Southeast Raleigh Promise will join with Wells Fargo and Habitat for Humanity for the 4th Annual Southeast Raleigh Home (& Parks) Preservation Volunteer Event. Partners for Environment Justice and the City of Raleigh also are partners in this year’s event.

This daylong event is hands-on, bringing together more than 100 volunteers at Roberts Park who will fan out in historic neighborhoods in Southeast Raleigh to repair and update three homes, help construct a new home, enhance two local parks, and participate in wetland cleanup.

Keynote greetings are expected from Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell and other elected leaders, partners, and Southeast Raleigh residents who help inform our work to support more affordable, sustainable homes and communities, and empower all who call them Home. The day will also honor two longtime champions of Southeast Raleigh: former N.C. House Rep. Rosa Gill and community advocate Virginia Talley.

Since its launch in 2022, this initiative has improved 11 homes, beautified public spaces, and increased safety with the installation of dozens of free smoke detectors.

In 2024, Wells Fargo philanthropic giving totaled roughly $11.7 million in North Carolina in support of housing, small business, financial health, and other community needs, and employees volunteered more than 180,000 hours. This year, Wells Fargo is slated to help repair more than 200 affordable homes across the country.

This effort reflects the mission of Southeast Raleigh Promise: to help every resident grow, thrive, and prosper-safely and in place-by continuing to strengthen neighborhoods while protecting legacy residents, preserving homes and homeownership, and honoring cultural heritage.
